Management - Developing Your Leadership Style

10 July 2025

Webinar: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM BST

Session leader John Borland from 2020 Group focuses on developing leadership styles, emphasising the complexity and messiness of leadership. John introduces John C. Maxwell's definition of leadership as influence and discusses situational leadership, which adapts to different circumstances, people, and goals. He uses the story of Moses leading the Israelites to illustrate various leadership styles: autocratic, democratic, pastoral, and laissez-faire. He highlights the importance of self-awareness and situational adaptability, noting that effective leaders must balance task orientation, team dynamics, individual care, and hands-off approaches. John also addresses questions on managing challenging staff and clients, suggesting training, role transfer, or termination if necessary.
