C’mon people, we’re making it now

November 2021

My first ever gig was the Black Crowes at Brixton Academy, supported by the VERVE.  That’s not too relevant for this blog, but might help me sound cool… 😉 and links to the Richard Ashcroft lyric quoted in the title!

I can’t tell you how fantastic it was to be back on the road for the past couple of weeks.  So I will…

Despite the spikes and setbacks, I believe we are all finally starting to see a light at the end of this tunnel of uncertainty and anxiety. In November, I visited the three offices of our fabulous (now Top 50!) firm DJH Mitten Clarke in Stoke, Chester and Manchester.  Following that, I was at a conference in Birmingham and met with our superb firm Jerroms.

Meeting people again, interacting in person, is what we do best and I’ve missed it!  Towards the end of November, we shall head to Lisbon for Russell Bedford International’s first physical event since the pandemic and it will be the first time all of my team will be together in person, since early 2020.

So c’mon people!  Getting back out there, rebuilding that confidence of in-person interaction, might not be easy for some, having been locked down for several months, and i must admit I wasn’t sure what it would be like; but for me, it was like we’d never been apart.

Well, in theory we hadn’t.  We’d kept the energy and vibrancy alive online and our firms continued to engage; helping each other and their clients with such dedication and resilience.

The world might have changed a lot, but our people are the same; if anything, stronger and more determined than ever before.

(And it wasn’t twice as hard as it was the first time… that’s the Black Crowes, if you’re keeping up with the music references!)
