Two weeks, five locations, and a little more conversation!
July 2025
The Russell Bedford International Asia Pacific conference was being held in Makati, Metro Manila, the Philippines and, as is customary, I visited some of our member firms in the region up to the event.
First stop Singapore, second stop Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, third stop Taipei, Taiwan, then prior to our conference, a visit to our office in Metro Manila, Philippines (my 72nd country) and, due to the typhoon, an unplanned rainy day stop-over in Hong Kong; yet a most enjoyable and productive time at all locations, soaking up the culture with memorable moments.
I always find it fascinating how everyone is facing the same challenges; whether that be with new technologies and how to adopt Artificial Intelligence to enhance processes, upskilling in areas such as ESG and sustainability, the battle for attraction and retention of talent, or regulatory updates, and all mixed together with a lot of geopolitical, governmental and economic uncertainty. I was however impressed with how our firms are handling so many issues and their strategic plans for the future. I have to also say, wherever I went, I was greeted with amazing hospitality and am grateful to all those who welcomed me with such kindness.
The conference in the Philippines heavily focused on working closer together and I had the pleasure of interviewing a colleague from each of our firms in attendance, discussing their current developments, their recent issues, priorities and future outlook. The results: a blend of interesting information, knowledge sharing, openness and willingness to learn in order to grow and develop, and that ever-important cementing of relationships.
It was another fantastic occasion. I am proud of the firms in the region and had some wonderful cultural experiences. Our network continues to thrive and I was once again delighted to witness such positive engagement throughout.
