Russell Bedford International Annual Global Conference 2024: Rio de Janeiro
November 2024
The Russell Bedford International Annual Global Conference 2024 brought together our worldwide network for an amazing week of insightful discussions, collaboration, and celebration on the fabulous Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro.
Ahead of the conference, Russell Bedford International CEO, Stephen Hamlet, and Events and Member Relations Manager, Kathryn Davis visited the host firm, Russell Bedford Brasil, at their Rio offices. It was a great opportunity to learn more about their practice, hear about their future plans, and meet their incredible team.
The conference opened with a warm welcome at the JW Marriott’s Wayana Ballroom, where delegates got to reconnect with familiar faces, form new connections, and celebrate the anniversaries and achievements of Russell Bedford firms. Day one began with executive sessions led by Stephen Hamlet and Global Chair Daniel Ryba, which set the stage for a full agenda. This included talks on unlocking the potential of generative AI, strategies for building cyber resilience, and examining the vital role of accountants in addressing fraud. Delegates also enjoyed a lively speed networking session, which created valuable new connections.
To round off day one, attendees enjoyed a memorable evening at Fogo de Chão, where they experienced an authentic Brazilian churrasco dinner, danced to samba music, and took in the breathtaking views of the Sugarloaf Mountain.
Day two featured more great sessions covering strategies for scaling up your accountancy business through digital marketing, discussions on ESG and how accountants are uniquely positioned to lead the conversation, as well as strategies for future-proofing succession planning and nurturing tomorrow’s talent.
The final day included member-led discussion groups offering an open forum for feedback on the network, leading into the Annual General Meeting. This was followed by an exciting look ahead to Madrid – our host city for the 2025 Annual Global Conference.
A special highlight was a heartfelt video tribute to Network Development Director Kempton Bedell-Harper, who is set to retire after 24 years of dedicate service to Russell Bedford International.
The conference closing celebrations took place at the ICRJ Yacht Club, where delegates enjoyed a spectacular gala dinner and dance. As Stephen Hamlet, CEO, shared, “It’s been another fantastic Annual Global Conference – an incredible opportunity for our colleagues across the network to reconnect and strengthen relationships. As we reflect on our progress, we’re also energised for the future and remain dedicated to delivering the high-quality member support and services that define Russell Bedford International.”
We extend a huge thank you to our delegates, speakers, and participants for their valuable contributions this year. Russell Bedford International members are encouraged to visit the event page for presentation materials and to view the event photos.
